Maintaining Excellence in Spinal Health - Orthospot Dr. Manu Bora

Posted by Dr Manu Bora

Ideally, spinal health isnt something you think about or even consider until you develop some pain or even a painful condition. Our spinal column is most likely to perform several functions, and the majority of the parts are likely to be involuntary. You might not be aware of the fact, but your spinal column is responsible for maintaining your balance. It also guards your central nervous system. No matter what happens to your spinal condition, you must know that it tends to affect your overall health or wellbeing. Therefore, it is vital to protect your spinal column. In addition, you need to know that your vertebrae, cartilage and nerves, and other elements are pretty vulnerable to any injury besides wear and tear.  You can get back pain due to almost anything like your job, lifestyle, and everything in between. You need to consult an orthopedic or even a surgeon if you feel you have severe discomfort or pain in your back.

Optimal spinal health:

If you are stressed about your spinal health, you must know that some lifestyles and habits can help you protect your crucial structure. You must know that movement is beneficial for your spinal health, but you need to ensure that you don't over-exert yourself while working out. It is mainly because your back muscles are pretty susceptible to tears or strains. But when you allow your back to stretch, you would be able to maintain your overall health. You need to make moving a habit if your job includes a lot of sitting or sitting almost every day.

You need to ensure that you take a break in between and allow your back to stretch. At the same time, you need to know that if you lift weight or do other activities, it can lead to back or even spinal injuries at times. Whenever possible, you need to ensure that you use the perfect equipment for lifting and always use the best possible posture to support your back and knees.

If you choose to lift heavy objects, you need to bend your hips and knees to remain in a squat position. In addition, you must straighten your legs to elevate your load and keep it closer to your body for additional support. If an object seems heavy or awkward to lift, ensure you seek help from your colleagues.

If you fail to be hydrated well, you are most likely to suffer from back problems as your muscles and bones need a lot of water to stay healthy. In addition, if your body is dehydrated, you might suffer from pains and strains. You can easily avoid these issues if you drink water throughout the day. Besides drinking adequate water, you need to ensure that your diet is healthy and balanced. For example, you can easily ward off your back conditions if you eat dark green vegetables or high protein meat.

One of the most common causes of spinal injury is terrible posture, so you need to ensure you sit up straight with your feet on the ground.
